OPeNDAP allows one to give a application a url and have it directly download data. To read this data into matlab use 
loaddap('http://maproom.nimet.gov.ng/SOURCES/.NiMet/.IOD/.C1991-2020/.iod/T+partial/yearly-anomalies/dods')
